Proxy rendering has never been easier!

Proxy files are designed to make editing easier on weaker PCs or for remote teams. Creating proxy files in NAÏVE is easy. You just need to choose them in the Project Settings window that appears after your project is uploaded into the software.

To turn on proxy rendering, switch on "Create proxy files". After that, the proxy settings will appear:

Do I need proxy files?

We know that proxy files can be used in two cases: for working on not weaker computers, for example, laptops; as well as to simplify the workflow in a distributed team. Thus, we offer several proxy file presets for solving these problems.

Codecs Apple ProRes Proxy and Avid DNxHD LB are designed to speed up the work. That is why sometimes they require an equal or even slightly larger space on your drive than the source files. However, thanks to easier coding, you can even work with 4 cameras at the same time, even on a budget laptop.

Several versions of the H.264 codec are designed to create proxy files that are considerably smaller than your source. Therefore, we offer you three options for the bit-rate to choose - compress as much as it does not interfere with the work of your editor :)

First, choose the proxy codec suitable for editing:

Which proxy codec to choose?

It depends on your needs and operational & storage capacity:

Apple ProRes 422 and Avid DNxHD work really good on a weaker PC,

as they are fast but they take a lot of space.H.264 is great for remotely working teams: they are a bit slower but take very little space.
